At Chick & Ruths Delly in Annapolis theyve been starting the day with the Pledge of Allegiance for over 15 years! Proud residents of Marylands capitol know their state is rich in culture and traditions. The state capitol is also the sailing capitol of the world and home of the Woodwind Schooners and Americas first sailing school where anybody can learn to sail. Across the bay, PRS Guitars turns exotic hardwoods into some of the finest electric guitars in the world. In Ocean City, leisure & recreation are embraced enthusiastically and marinas, water parks and campgrounds are full of visiting tourists in the summer. Assateague Island National Seashore is a coastal treasure with miles of beaches and sand dunes, inhabited by wild feral horses left by 17th century farmers. Blue Crabbing is an industry that fights to survive in the Chesapeake Bay. Local watermen begin their day early and never know what they will catch until the day is over. Crab processing continues the work of bringing these tasty crustaceans to market. Preservation of traditions like these takes place at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in Crisfield where, not only is the past preserved, but skills like wooden boat building continue to be taught to new generations. Ducks of every size shape and color flock to the Decoy Museum in Havre de Grace. From the valuable antiques of the nineteenth century to modern mantelpiece artworks, hand-carved wooden decoys are taken very seriously in this quaint little community thats carved a niche in the duck business. Maryland is a beautiful, geographically diverse state with a rich maritime heritage defined in no small measure by the Chesapeake Bay but the hills, woods and waters of Western Maryland contain gems no less treasured including Cunningham Falls, Antietam and Potomac Falls.

Filmed in 2005 by directors Jim and Kelly Watt.
